Adoptee Night with the San Francisco Giants: Tuesday, July 24 at 7:15 pm at AT&T Park / Pregame at Lucky Strike at 4:30 pm

It’s important to raise awareness about adoption because it touches the lives of so many people, and we’re lucky that the San Francisco Giants are helping us start what has the potential to be a national trend

Adoption agency Independent Adoption Center (IAC) is proud to sponsor the first annual “Adoptee Night with the San Francisco Giants,” taking place on July 24, 2012 at AT&T Park as the Giants take on the San Diego Padres, with pregame festivities at Lucky Strike bowling alley at 4:30 pm.

Organized by the Mixed Roots Foundation and endorsed by George Lucas, this special night at the ballpark recognizes the millions of people who have been touched by adoption and shows support for the adoption community, with a portion of the Adoptee Night proceeds benefiting adoptees and their families.

“We’re really excited to help make the first ever Adoptee Night possible,” said Ryan Schwab, director of marketing for the Independent Adoption Center adoption agency. “It’s important to raise awareness about adoption because it touches the lives of so many people, and we’re lucky that the San Francisco Giants are helping us start what has the potential to be a national trend.”

Legendary film producer and director George Lucas, founder of LucasFilm and creator of Star Wars, is also helping Adoptee Night grow. Lucas, an adoptive father of three children, endorses the special event in a public service announcement that will play during the game.

Adoptee Night is centered on crowd participation. The Mixed Roots Foundation encourages everyone attending the game to help spread awareness, and volunteers will be handing out freebies like rally towels and T-shirts so people can do just that. Supporters can also join the Mixed Roots Foundation for pregame fun from 4:30 to 6:30 pm at the Lucky Strike bowling alley across from AT&T Park.

The Mixed Roots Foundation is looking for volunteers to help hand out materials around the stadium, in the stadium and during the pregame event. All materials need to focus on post-adoption resources, like mentoring or providing activities for adoptees and their families after they adopt.
