"Spring Training" Open House will feature allied health and other career-oriented programs.

We encourage people who are considering career-focused education to compare this to Spring Training we see in Phoenix every year.

Anthem College-Phoenix invites the public to attend an Open House next Tuesday, March 27, from 9 am to 8 pm. The campus is located at 1515 E. Indian School Road, just west of State Route 51.

Anthem College prepares students to enter allied health careers in Dental Assisting, Medical Assistant, and Pharmacy Technology. The College also trains students to prepare to enter Veterinary Technology, Paralegal, or Computer Networking and Security fields. Depending on the program, students can earn a Diploma or Associate of Science degree.

“Spring is a great time to think about the future,” says James Hadley, PhD, Campus President. “We encourage people who are considering career-focused education to compare this to Spring Training we see in Phoenix every year.” (The region hosts Major League Baseball’s Spring Training Cactus League.)

Anthem College has adopted “Anthem for Good” as its motto and work ethic, Hadley added. “It describes our culture and commitment to give back to the community” by encouraging students to donate the skills they learn in school. Hadley offered a few examples of this ethic in action:

  •     Veterinary Technology students and faculty volunteer their services to Arizona’s annual StandDown event that delivers a variety of health and social services at no cost to at-risk and homeless Veterans. This year, 125 Veterans brought in their pets for check-ups and vaccines
  •     Last August, Medical Assistant students handed out water and provided blood pressure checks to homeless persons in Phoenix, where summer heat often exceeds 110°.
  •     Phoenix staff and students donated enough hair to make 31 wigs for Locks of Love, a nonprofit organization that provides wigs for children with medical hair loss.
  •     The campus raised more than $3000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association through “bailouts” for key staff who had been “arrested” during MDA’s fundraising season.

Students learn their craft through hands-on training in labs designed to look like the workplaces they are preparing to enter, using the same kind or similar equipment.

The College opened a new dental training lab last year where students learn periodontal, restorative, lab, and dental radiography skills. A stand-alone veterinary training facility features surgical suites as well as exam rooms, and cares for animals that are later adopted out.
