Open University is the world’s first global university to launch the OUMBA pilot locally, supported by marketing, delivery and intellectual property infrastructure provided by Pearson. The OUMBA programme is a 30 month distance learning programme made up of five modules, each focusing on a specific area. Whilst it is primarily a distance learning programme, it also includes four residential Global Exchange Events which will take learners to cities such as Dublin, London, Singapore and Istanbul.

The Open University Business School MBA is an executive experience that pioneers practice-based learning which means that what a manager learns today, they can then put into practice tomorrow, benefitting both the individual and his/her organisation. The pedagogy is designed to encourage learners to develop their leadership and innovation through learning from their peers on the MBA programme.

The Open University sets up study groups of approximately 16 students from varied nationalities. The groups are based on maximum diversity possible within a time zone - the time zone is important because some class interactions require real time participation, while others can be organised asynchronously. Students in India are likely to be linked to students in a geographical zone from Singapore to the Gulf. There is support available from a specialist Student Support team based in Oxford, UK. They offer them advice and guidance on the teaching, learning and assessment activities of the university which are not directly related to the academic content of the programme.

Some Important information regarding the admission process:

The Eligibility:

•     Live in India, Ireland, Malaysia, Singapore, Norway or Sweden or are sponsored by an employer located in these countries;
•     Have three years management experience;
•     Have an undergraduate honours degree or equivalent qualification;
•     Are competent in the English language (test available if required - see below);
•     Proof of identity and proof of age.
•     A valid passport is required for travel to the Global Exchange Events.

Post graduation management experience includes but is not limited to:

•     Line management of people
•     Budget accountability for management of resources
•     Project management
•     Delivery of sector expertise e.g. scientific or technical services and skills
•     Delivery of research
•     Delivery of professional services
•     Stakeholder management

The Process:

•     Direct entry route: If you meet the above eligibility criteria, you can join the MBA programme yourself in three simple steps:

         a. Complete the on-line application form: OUMBA Individual Application
         b. We will offer you a place upon verification of your undergraduate degree or equivalent qualification and confirmation of your management experience
         c. We will confirm your place upon receipt of payment (required before the programme starts)

•     Professional Certificate in Management route:

         a. If you satisfy the above eligibility criteria with the exception of an honours degree, you can enter the MBA pathway by studying the Open University Professional Certificate in Management first. Successful completion leads you straight into the two and a half year Open University MBA pathway.

The Fees: The MBA is £17,730 payable in pounds sterling.
