Developed by three key scientists who have been at the forefront of this field, the Gurobi Solver has shown remarkable speed on third-party benchmark tests -- challenging the best existing LP/MIP Solvers. Leading companies in many industries use optimization models to allocate scarce resources in a wide range of planning and operational decision-making applications. The highest-value industrial applications typically use linear mixed-integer programming (LP/MIP) models -- but these models can be extremely difficult to solve in acceptable time, even on the fastest modern computers.

The Gurobi Solver was developed by Robert Bixby, Edward Rothberg, and Zonghao Gu, three highly respected computational scientists and key former members of the development team of CPLEX, an LP/MIP Solver known for its high performance. Designed from the ground up for modern multi-core processors, the Gurobi Solver is always parallel -- in contrast to established Solvers, such as CPLEX and Xpress-MP, where "Parallel MIP" is an extra-cost add-on option.

In a recently published third-party benchmark study, the Gurobi Solver exhibited the fastest performance of all Solvers tested on a set of 75 well-known, challenging LP/MIP models. This is the first time in nearly a decade that a new LP/MIP Solver has outperformed the established leaders.
