Boca Raton, Fla. (PRWEB) June 4, 2009
The Options University, based in Boca Raton, Florida, with the help of its students and clients, has raised $45,000 to donate to Virgin Unite, a non-profit entrepreneurial foundation of the Virgin Group. Virgin Unite is dedicated to focusing on social, economic and environmental issues worldwide by working with partners around the world to develop new approaches to tough societal issues. Some of the causes to which Virgin Unite contributes are: Free the Children, National Alliance to End Homelessness, and the National Network for Youth, just to name a few.
Over a 45 day period, the Options University had a goal of raising $45,000 for Virgin Unite. To do so, the Options University bundled three of their top-selling products valued at $3,800, and offered them to their customers for just $1,000. The Options University then generously donated 100 percent of those product sales to Virgin Unite. Options University and 19 other socially-minded companies collectively raised $447,000 for Virgin Unite. Options University's goal was certainly achieved, raising and sending $45,000 to Virgin Unite directly.
Brett Fogle, co-founder of the Options University, believes in Virgin Unite's mission to give back through social entrepreneurship. As stated by Fogle, "I am proud to be working together to raise money for the various causes that Virgin Unite supports, with the ultimate goal of making a sustainable difference in the world. There is much more to Options University than just an investment education. We're a company dedicated to giving back to make the world a better place."
Led by billionaire Sir Richard Branson, the people at Virgin Unite focus on social giving with entrepreneurial thinking. They believe that business has the capacity to improve the human condition and that the same visionary thinking and problem-solving skills that make entrepreneurs successful can be channeled into solving the world's social and environmental crises. They also believe that business and the social/environmental sector cannot function in silos, and that we must all work together to drive change.
As a result of raising this money, Fogle and the 19 other entrepreneurs were invited to spend five days on Richard Branson's Private Caribbean Island from May 15-20 to discuss social giving and entrepreneurship, as well as bigger ideas for giving back even more. During this time, they discussed business, life and social insights and strategies to help make a continued and sustainable difference in the world.
According to Fogle, "Richard Branson has been a business hero of mine for many years and I am very excited to have this opportunity contribute my time and efforts."
After attending the "closed-door" meetings with Richard Branson on his private Caribbean island estate in May, Fogle will also be working with Entrepreneur's Unite, another organization led by Branson and the Virgin Group, dedicated to teaching young entrepreneur's worldwide and teaching entrepreneurship as an engine for social change.
