More than 2,000 persons are expected to attend as the Original Richard Allen Committee, Inc. (ORAC), hosts its 19th Annual Reunion Picnic for former and current community residents of the North Philadelphia housing development. This year the focus is on "Education For Our Youth," and residents will honor Quadira Harper, a senior at Charter High for Architecture and Design, with the 2009 Ronald A. White College Scholarship, a cash gift to help with college expenses. Quadira will attend Penn State University, Schuylkill Haven Campus in the fall and will major in Psychology.

Each year, members come together to renew relationships formed during their time spent in the housing development. The event is also a time for the committee to recognize residents who have had special achievements or who have passed away over the previous year and to launch new community initiatives.

The Original Richard Allen Committee, Inc. was founded 20 years ago by a small group of former residents of the housing development.
