Orbs.com (http://www.orbs.com) is a free website builder that solves the problem of bits of information on random scraps of paper that pile up on most people's desks. Whether it's notes from a meeting, vacation ideas or research on what kind of car to buy, an orbs owner can store all that information on an orbs site instead.
Orbs sites include features that allow for fast editing without any technical know-how including:
-A table of contents generator that makes a page listing automatically appear on the right side. Pages can then be dragged and dropped into any order or made into subpages of other pages.
-Page editing right on a page without having to go to a separate editing page. The site owner can see exactly how everything looks as they are adding content.
-When a site owner clicks on the part of the page he/she wants to edit, the cursor appears at the exact location. No need to scroll once the text editor is activated.
-A page history where old versions of a page are saved, so information isn't accidentally deleted and lost.
"Nowadays, most people do research online," said Emily Hirai, Director of Marketing for Orbs.com. "Personally, I used Orbs to pull together all the information for my son's 4th birthday party. I liked having a central place to post all my ideas, copy and paste in ideas from other moms and keep track of what I needed to do. I could also access from home or at work."
The basic Orbs package is free and includes the option to make a site private, invite 50 members to get viewing access if the site is private, 100 MB of storage and up to 20 pages. Four paid package that will allow site editors, the addition of more members and a domain are also available from $24 to $249 per month.
Orbs.com is a free website builder geared toward organizing information through a table of contents with drag and drop pages. Members use their orbs site to plan projects, manage tasks and store information. They can make their site public or private to their members only.
