The Tea Spot announces the addition of two new Organic Green Teas — Clouds and Mist and Sencha Tea — to its premium collection of loose leaf teas, available now exclusively at fine restaurants and cafes nationwide as well as their online tea shop.
Clouds and Mist, also known as yunwu, is an organic whole leaf green tea with a light golden infusion with a complex mix of smoky, citrus and vegetal notes. It has earthy flavors, reminiscent of buttery roasted artichokes and roasted pecans. Clouds and Mist is quite structured in flavor – assertive and smoky up front which develops over time into a light buttery finish – making it a great green tea for morning. Traditionally an imperial tribute tea of China, Clouds and Mist takes its name from the seas of clouds surrounding the mountain peaks on which this wild green tea is grown. The curled leaves of this green tea are harvested in the spring from young tea buds. These tea leaves brew well for three to four infusions.
Sencha organic green tea is a perfect addition to The Tea Spot’s organic green teas. The only USDA certified organic Japanese style green tea in the collection, this sweet and grassy tea is a traditional Japanese classic stands the test of time. Its dark emerald tea leaves yield a medium-light infusion with slightly sweet flavor that lingers on the palate. The balanced, lightly sweet and salty flavor profile is reminiscent of fresh cut grass and seaweed. Sencha is a steamed tea, made from freshly picked leaves. For added value and enjoyment, the flavor profile from these tea leaves remains consistent for three infusions.
Tea Buyer at The Tea Spot, Jessica Burtenshaw, notes, "These two organic greens help round out both our green tea and organic tea offerings. These two teas alone couldn't be more different, yet widely appealing. The bright grassiness of Sencha contrasts to the deep smokiness of Clouds and Mist, offering varied flavor profiles to fit different moods or times of the day."
As restaurants and cafes continue to offer their patrons more premium and healthful options, The Tea Spot’s teas are perfect additions to the beverage list. Further, these full leaf organic green teas brew to pair beautifully with diversified menu items.
