In a dynamic web experience, ethical consumers can pick from 102 variations of organic, fair trade cotton T-shirts. The range covers men, women, boys, girls and babies. For the more adventurous, there's a fabric option that mixes 70% organic bamboo with 30% fair trade organic cotton. (The speed at which bamboo grows makes it an extremely sustainable raw material for making fabric.)
If organic and fair trade qualities were not enough, Lightning Fast pushes the notion of ethical clothing further by donating a full 50% of its profits to the Lightning Fast Foundation. The foundation works directly with charities focused on helping children in developing circumstances in Swaziland, South Africa and Romania. "Lightning Fast is the brand of choice for the conscientious consumer happy to pay more for clothes that make a difference," said Lightning Fast founder Steve Savides. Will Shepherd, Creative Director from global advertising giant McCann Erickson has been offering pro bono advice to Lightning Fast. Will commented, "People are always going to love buying stuff, especially clothes. And they're happy to pay more for a brand that's doing the right thing. That's Lightning Fast through and through. The brand is built on helping the poor in Swaziland, South Africa and Romania. It also guarantees that the production of their clothes is good for the environment and the people involved in making them. Fair trade and organic is a key founding principle."
Adding to the fourteen core designs and 102 combinations of T-shirt, Lightning Fast is already sourcing long-sleeve tees, hoodies, caps and jeans in order to expand their 'extremely ethical' offering. Steve and Will agree: "We believe that buying ethical, fair-trade produce is the most powerful way to help rebalance the injustice, unfairness and environmental damage that results from an over-zealous drive for massive profits. But to effect further change, we also believe in outrageous giving. That's why Lightning Fast donate 50% of profits to effective charity work."
