With droves of baby boomers heading into retirement many are in need of competent legal advice on many issues regarding their “Golden age.” In their true character these baby boomers are embracing new trends and learning more about legal implications of what it means to retire. In Florida, one of the strongholds of the baby boomer demographic, the attorneys of the Elder Law Center in Orlando are trying to minimize any obstacles between competent and sound legal advice and those who seek it by having a Q&A session on Twitter. This public session is in addition to the many resources they provide on their blog and website, as well as their monthly scheduled seminars and radio shows.
So what kind of issues does your average baby boomer face? Well there are several popular topics that should be considered and areas where one should be well prepared:
- Medicaid planning: for those baby boomers in need of long-term care due to medical conditions
- Guardianship: covers elders (in most cases parents of baby boomers) who no longer have the capacity to make important decisions for themselves
- Estate planning: covers the area of long term planning and crafting of the necessary legal documents for when the inevitable life events take place. Families are therefore well-prepared instead of having to react and make decisions in a very short time frame.
- Probate: determines what happens to the assets of a passed individual and is the one area with the most important legal ramifications for this demographic group.
On Friday May 6th The Elder Law Center will conduct a LIVE Twitter Q&A session from 11AM to 1PM and welcomes Florida baby boomers and their families to submit their questions.
