The CORE Institute’s ‘Excellence through Evidence’™ platform will help ensure Banner Del E. Webb Medical Center patients receive the best orthopedic care possible, with its focus on outcomes and patient safety.
Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) June 28, 2011
Banner Del E. Webb Medical Center and The CORE Institute have formed “The Banner CORE Center for Orthopedics,” a joint venture for the delivery of innovative, revolutionary orthopedic care based at the nonprofit hospital.
The Banner CORE Center for Orthopedics is poised to bring a higher level of orthopedic service to the community by providing a fully integrated continuum of orthopedic care. This means the physicians and the hospital will be jointly developing, implementing and continuously improving care delivery. Patients who need orthopedic surgery will experience a continuum of care from pre-admission through hospital admission and from surgery to inpatient rehab and outpatient therapy, if required. Care coordination, clinical metrics, and standardized protocols will be seamless for orthopedic patients in the program.
The Banner CORE Center for Orthopedics will build upon the foundation of subspecialty orthopedic offerings already provided at Banner Del E Webb including joint replacement, arthroscopy, sports medicine, all aspects of upper and lower extremity surgical procedures, and the addition of orthopedic spine surgery. The program will also focus on the early deployment of new research tools, innovative technologies, evidenced-based orthopedic care and standardized protocols.
For example, Banner Del E. Webb and The CORE Institute have already partnered in piloting the Secure Tracks system for patient rehabilitation. Secure Tracks is a ceiling mounted support system to expedite patient recovery after surgery, helping patients to walk farther and faster without the fear of falling. The hospital and The CORE Institute were the first in the country to offer this service to their patients.
Banner Del E. Webb Medical Center is ranked second for joint replacement in the Valley. The hospital has been providing excellent orthopedic care for its patients since 1988. The CORE Institute, founded in 2005, is renowned for its vision of orthopedic excellence encompassing the entire spectrum of orthopedic sciences and boasts the largest inpatient orthopedic volumes in the Valley.
“The CORE Institute’s ‘Excellence through Evidence’™ platform will help ensure Banner Del E. Webb Medical Center patients receive the best orthopedic care possible, with its focus on outcomes and patient safety,” noted Dr. David Jacofsky, The CORE Institute Chairman, CEO and surgeon. “Together we are creating an alignment among hospital administrators, hospital staff, physicians and patients to improve outcomes through a proven team approach.”
The partnership is not a merger, but a better way to do business in the era of healthcare reform and economic uncertainties. The Banner CORE Center for Orthopedics will adhere to strict guidelines focused on shared mutual interests to manage costs, increase efficiency and improve quality of care.
“This partnership assures that we are all on the same page with one goal, that of serving our patients with the highest quality of care from admission through surgery, to discharge and outpatient rehabilitation,” said John Harrington, Jr. CEO of Banner Del E. Webb.
Adds Chief Medical Officer Dr. Charlie Agee: “We fully believe that this program will set the standard in orthopedic care for patients with the ultimate goal of becoming a destination orthopedic center.”
