Full Sail University (http://www.fullsail.edu ) announced today that 1993 Recording Arts Graduate and Valedictorian, Gary Rizzo, has been nominated for a 2009 Academy Award in the category of Best Achievement in Sound Mixing for the film, Batman: The Dark Knight. The Academy Awards will air live on February 22, 2009 on ABC.
This is Rizzo's second nomination to achieve an Oscar of his own with his first in 2005 in the category of Best Achievement in Sound Mixing for his work on The Incredibles. Currently, Rizzo serves in the position of Re-Recording Mixer, and has a long history of working on blockbuster films at the famed audio post-production facility Skywalker Sound on George Lucas' Skywalker Ranch in San Rafael, CA.
After graduating from Full Sail University in 1993, Rizzo's career spans more than a decade of success working on the following major movie titles: Romeo & Juliet (1996); The Lost World: Jurassic Park, Contact and Titanic (1997); A Bug's Life (1998); Office Space and Dogma (1999); Black Hawk Down (2001); Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones (2002); Hellboy, Farenheit 9/11, and The Incredibles (2004); Batman Begins and Munich (2005); Over the Hedge and The Prestige (2006); Sicko, The Enchanted, and Beowulf (2007); Horton Hears a Who! and The Dark Knight (2008).
