Meet the Moment™, a CLIF® BAR program celebrating athletic adventures and the places they happen, culminated this past weekend with a National Day of Action, an inspirational day of volunteer activities that made a positive and lasting impact on the outdoor places and spaces where memorable Moments occur every day.

In all, the nationwide preservation effort brought together more than 1,200 people who contributed more than 4,500 volunteer hours to Protect the Places We Play. Preservation efforts included picking up trash on beaches, building and maintaining hiking and biking trails, building wilderness boundary markers and educational kiosks at trailheads, construction of a mountain bike skills area and restoration of popular climbing spots.

CLIF BAR, the nation’s No. 1 energy bar, is big on supporting athletic adventure and the communities it creates. Whether it’s action, adventure or the thrill of the chase, CLIF BAR encouraged people to share how they Meet the Moment by uploading inspiring photos and stories at http://www.MeettheMoment.com.

For each Moment uploaded, CLIF BAR donated $5 to one of five charities: Access Fund, International Mountain Biking Association, Leave No Trace, Surfrider Foundation or Winter Wildlands Alliance, who then conducted volunteer events focused on ensuring that outdoor spaces will be preserved for future generations to experience their own Moments.

Among the participants in Meet the Moment’s National Day of Action were two notable Team Clif Bar athletes. Jeff Lenosky, a decorated freeride and trials mountain biker, helped build mountain bike trails and a skills park in Elkridge, Md., while Cedar Wright, an accomplished free soloist, speed climber, aid climber and free climber, participated in Access Fund’s Access and Stewardship Summit in Golden, Colo.

Joining in the spirit of the National Day of Action were others who participated online from around the country by taking on preservation activities in their own communities. From picking up trash on a Sunday run to more organized trail and beach cleanup efforts, volunteers logged on to share their impact by posting their Day of Action photos to the CLIF BAR Facebook page.
