Fashion Ambush with a Colorado Twist, the 2011 adventure of Peggy Ziglin, Regional Fashion Advisor for the Outlets of Colorado, surprises an unsuspecting individual each month at various Colorado Springs and Pikes Peak Region attractions with a full fashion makeover. Next on the roster: a staff member at the Colorado Springs Airport is in for the full treatment on Saturday, February 26.

Scenic Colorado Springs and Pikes Peak Region attractions will host monthly Fashion Ambushes with the Outlets of Colorado in 2011

The Colorado Springs Airport provides such a welcoming, homey environment for travelers...I'm excited to show it off.

Outlets of Colorado has three goals with its new Fashion Ambush with a Colorado Twist: to help Coloradans find style, maximize their budget, and get out for some fun at premier Pikes Peak Region destinations and attractions this year. The next stop for the Fashion Ambush is the Colorado Springs Airport on Saturday, February 26, where one lucky and deserving employee will be ambushed and unveiled. A fashion show, hundreds of dollars in prize giveaways from the Outlets, complimentary airport parking and a special lunch menu at the Colorado Springs Airport lounge welcome everyone to take part in the fun.

In February and each month in 2011, hostess Peggy Ziglin, Outlets of Colorado Regional Fashion Advisor, and her sidekick Craig Coffey, morning reporter on Fox 21 television, are "ambushing" individuals at tourism attractions in Colorado Springs and the Pikes Peak Region. Ziglin and Fox 21 chronicle every entertaining episode on film, sharing how Coloradans can be both budget-conscious and fashionable.

Each Fashion Ambush target will receive a makeover and prize package valued at more than $1,000. Ambush subjects receive a wardrobe from the Outlets' designer retail stores like Ann Taylor, Lane Bryant, CAbi, and Off 5th, a complete expert hair style from Styles Salon, professional makeup and fashion advice. The process is documented on film before, during and after the Fashion Ambush and the resulting three minute video segment appears on Fox 21 for several weeks-- until the next Ambush occurs. The Fashion Ambush provides entertainment, education and advice for Colorado shoppers, and teaches consumers how to get the most out of their dollars and their look by shopping at the Outlets of Colorado in Castle Rock, Loveland and Silverthorne.

The first Ambush, in January 2011, took place at Cheyenne Mountain Resort. Colorado Springs resident and young mother Ashley Mackenzie was the surprised-- and ultimately thrilled-- recipient of this first Fashion Ambush makeover of the season, and was revealed to rave reviews. Mackenzie received a wardrobe from Off 5th (the Saks Fifth Avenue outlet), a hairstyle, artfully applied makeup and fashion advice in one entertaining, non-threatening, and life changing afternoon.

The next event will take place at the Colorado Springs Airport lounge on Saturday, February 26 at 11:00 AM. "The employee we're ambushing is a mother who has been working two jobs to provide for her family," says Ziglin. "She was nominated by her supervisor, and we're excited to show her a good time and give her an amazing look." Appropriate to the venue, a 'Runway Fashion Show' with the Outlets' young amateur model contest winners will take place, showing the 'Best of Spring Fashions' from Calvin Klein, Carter's Children's Wear, Dress Barn and Wilson Leather. The Outlets of Colorado are enticing everyone to come for the event with giveaways of $500 in gift cards and fashion merchandise including Coach bags and accessories, awarded to guests who give the Outlets' famed prize wheel a spin. Every guest will receive a goodie bag with a $10 Outlets gift card and other treats, and free airport parking is offered to the first 30 attendees. The Colorado Springs Airport is featuring a special menu Saturday, with items like ‘Fishnet Calamari’, ‘Mini-Skirt Steak’, ‘Mountain Grill Wedges’, and ‘Coco Brownies’ in tribute to the Ambush event. The Colorado Springs Airport is located at 7770 Milton E. Proby Parkway in southeast Colorado Springs, off of Exit 135 at Interstate 25.

"The Colorado Springs Airport provides such a welcoming, homey environment for travelers," says Ziglin. "It's an essential element in our Colorado tourism mix, and a hassle-free hub for people disembarking from or coming to southern Colorado. I'm excited to show it off."

Locations earmarked for future Fashion Ambushes include the Royal Gorge Bridge & Park, Cave of the Winds, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, Pikes Peak Cog Railway, Garden of the Gods Visitor & Nature Center, and Historic Manitou Springs. Details on dates, times and places of each monthly Ambush are updated regularly at http://www.outletsofcolorado.com. Sponsors of Fashion Ambush with a Colorado Twist include the Colorado Springs Convention & Visitor Bureau, FOX 21 KXRM and Styles Salon.
