Over65Insure.com simplifies the insurance decision-making process so that individuals can make well-informed choices about their healthcare needs
Riverwoods, Illinois (PRWEB) December 3, 2009
Over65Insure.com, an educational site for Medicare-eligible seniors, launched today to help bridge the gap between education and insurance. The site is designed to offer flexibility and information about every aspect of Medicare Benefits, Medicare Supplemental Insurance, Medicare Part D and Long-Term Care Insurance. Over65Insure.com has arrived at a time when, over the next 20 years, Baby Boomers will become Medicare-eligible at a rate of 10,000 a day.
Unlike many other sites that bombard individuals with pages of confusing content, the objective of over65insure.com is to offer understandable information via an easy to navigate Web site. The site is divided into two sections. One section is designed for those just getting started. The second section is for those with a strong comprehension of Medicare options. They are directed to a quote engine that allows them to compare plans from a wide selection of carriers.
“We started Over65Insure because the landscape of healthcare is unbelievably confusing for many individuals,” states Scott Loochtan, president and founder of Over65Insure. “Over65Insure.com simplifies the insurance decision-making process so that individuals can make well-informed choices that they can feel good about.”
Medicare Supplement insurance plans, also known as Medigap insurance plans, offer a menu of benefits that are standardized by the government. Insurance carriers in every state provide Medicare Supplement insurance plans that provide the same coverage but charge different premiums. Over65Insure has identified various carriers in multiple states and provides people the ability to choose which plan and premium best fits their specific needs. The site also offers people the option of speaking with a live Medicare Education Specialist who is trained to assist them in navigating the site and answering their individual insurance questions.
“We live in an era of instant information, from the Internet to 24-hour news programs,” said Loochtan. “The influx of content is overwhelming and with Over65Insure.com, we want to cut through the noise by providing a site for people that provides all the healthcare information that they will need.”
According to a report released by the Pew Research Center, online activities by Baby Boomers and other generations are rapidly catching Generation Y. Baby Boomers, which are divided into two groups Younger (45-54) and Older (55-63), are using the Internet for many of the same reasons – email, researching products, getting news, using search engines, buying products online and getting health information.
The report states that although younger Boomers are more likely to watch videos online (49 percent) than older Boomers (30 percent), the reverse is true about seeking health information – older Boomers (81 percent) compared to younger Boomers (74 percent). Collectively, 75 percent of Baby Boomers (45-63) and the Silent Generation (64-72) are using the Internet to get health information.
“The Internet is an astonishing tool for educating consumers, which allows them to research everything from healthcare to the latest technology – the difference is that healthcare is a necessity for most Americans,” stated Loochtan.
