It is important to us to contribute to the beautification of Overland Park, and we are pleased to be recognized for our ongoing efforts in this arena. With the Overland Park convention industry growing and business and leisure travel on the rise in our area, we feel it is critical to show visitors and residents alike what an attractive destination Overland Park can be.
Overland Park, Kansas (PRWEB) December 3, 2007
In 1989 the Overland Park Marriott was the first recipient of the City's Legacy of Greenery Committee Award of Landscape Excellence. An impressive eighteen years later, the Kansas City hotel continues to be recognized for its efforts to beautify the region. This year's winner of the new Award of Continued Landscape Excellence, the Overland Park Marriott has received the award, given only to previous winners, for continued "efforts of maintenance, revitalization and enhancement of their landscape[s]," according to the City of Overland Park.
The Overland Park hotel was evaluated for overall landscape design, installation, maintenance, preservation, and unique features. The Legacy of Greenery Committee took special note of the Overland Park Marriott's "efforts to replant and revitalize its many parking lot islands, perimeter green space, and foundation plantings… using shade tolerant shrubs and hostas."
The Overland Park Marriott offers 398 well-appointed guest rooms; the well-known Overland Park restaurant Nikko Japanese Steakhouse as well as Allie's American Grill; and a close proximity to Kansas City attractions, such as the Kansas City Chief Arrowhead Stadium and many a Kansas City golf course. The Kansas City MO hotel is a desirable setting for a wedding reception with two ballrooms and beautiful grounds, and offering 17 meetings rooms, the hotel attracts many business visitors to Overland Park.
According to Shane Somers, Director of Sales for the Overland Park hotel, "It is important to us to contribute to the beautification of Overland Park, and we are pleased to be recognized for our ongoing efforts in this arena. With the Overland Park convention industry growing and business and leisure travel on the rise in our area, we feel it is critical to show visitors and residents alike what an attractive destination Overland Park can be."
