Oxygen Forensic Suite 2013 Enhances Android Support, Extracts Data for New Mobile Apps

Oxygen Software updates its flagship mobile forensic product, Oxygen Forensic Suite 2013, enhancing support for mobile devices running the Android OS and enabling data extraction from mobile apps. The improved Android OS support ensures that no information contained in Android-powered devices will ever escape from the expert’s eye.

The improved Android support enables the complete analytics functionality for Android OS archives. Oxygen Forensic Suite 2013 will now display deleted calls and text messages in their corresponding sections, extract names and passwords for memorized Wi-Fi access points, and add support for Android OS .tar and multi-volume .zip archives.

More mobile apps are added to the list of supported data sources. Oxygen Forensic Suite 2013 can now extract information from TripIt free, Skyskanner, the latest versions of VK, Mail.RU Agent and the Japanese version of Yahoo! Messenger, as well as eBLASTER spyware.

Enhanced Android Support

The newest release of Oxygen Forensic Suite 2013 greatly improves its abilities to analyze information available in mobile devices powered by the Android OS. The tool is now able to automatically recover deleted calls and text messages, displaying them in the corresponding activity sections. Recovered entries are marked with a trash bin icon, allowing investigators to easily identify information that’s been deleted by the phone owner.

The updated Android analysis engine adds support for Android OS .tar archives. Multi-volume .zip archives containing the file structure of the device are now also supported.

Finally, the new build can parse information about Wi-Fi hotspots (names and passwords) stored in devices based on the Android OS 4.x. Stored names and passwords to Wi-Fi access points are now displayed in the corresponding Passwords section.

Data Extraction from More Mobile Apps

Oxygen Forensic Suite 2013 extracts, parses and analyzes information from hundreds popular mobile apps, enabling investigators accessing the most complete information about the location and activities of the device owner. The current release adds support for additional applications.

The tool now supports TripIt free for Apple iOS and Android devices, Skyscanner for Apple and Android, the latest versions of VK and Mail.RU Agent (Apple) and the Japanese version of Yahoo! Messenger for Apple iOS devices.

In addition, Oxygen Forensic Suite 2013 can now extract information collected by a widespread spyware application, eBLASTER. Spyware, when installed and active on a mobile device, collects and transmits information about the phone’s usage.
