The amount of collected forensic information is an important factor when investigating a crime and determining its details.
Moscow, Russia (PRWEB) May 13, 2011
Oxygen Software, one of the leading developers of forensic software for police and security services, today announces version 3.3 of the popular program for forensic extraction of user data from smart phones, mobile phones and PDA, Oxygen Forensic Suite 2011. For the first time the program introduces the ability to extract and analyze user accounts, contacts and messages from Google Mail and Yahoo! Messenger applications, as well as the history of Google Maps, stored in Apple iPhone and iPad.
Oxygen Forensic Suite 2011 lets the forensic expert build a detailed “portrait” of the smart phone user based on the large amount of extracted data, such as contacts, calls, messages, camera snapshots, GPRS and Wi-Fi data, etc. Using this information, it is possible to find out exactly where the phone user was when he made a call and sent or received a message, see contacts who actively communicate with the suspect, review user's actions in chronological order, and reconstruct the approximate route of the phone user on Google Maps. Currently there are over 2,000 supported models of devices using Android, Blackberry, Windows Mobile and Apple iOS, including version 4.3.3.
The new version provides the ability to extract and analyze more information from iPhone and iPad, which is especially important in connection with the growing popularity of these devices in the world. Now there are three new sections in the program – Google Mail, Google Maps and Yahoo! Messenger that display data of the corresponding applications in iPhone and iPad. The first two sections allow one to view accounts, contacts, messages and chat of relevant mail services, Google Mail and Yahoo! Messenger. Google Maps section displays a list of user queries, map bookmarks with full address and coordinates, names of objects that were returned on requests, as well as maps themselves. These features are available in the "Analyst" license for Apple iOS devices.
Also, the new version offers enhanced "Dictionary" section, which is now available for Android and Blackberry devices. This section shows the contents of the dynamic dictionary and words, entered by the smart phone user when typing messages, notes and calendar events. This section can help the expert to retrieve passwords and deleted messages, see the usage frequency of words, compose phrases from dictionary words.
Another important improvement in Oxygen Forensic Suite 2011 is enhanced support for Android tablets. Recently there has been a significant growth in their popularity: the market share of Android tablets in the last quarter of 2010 increased by ten times. Oxygen Software engineers could not ignore this trend, and in version 3.3 added support for a complete line of Archos tablets, which use Android OS.
"The amount of collected forensic information is an important factor when investigating a crime and determining its details. Therefore, we tried to make the new version more suited to this requirement by adding the ability to extract information from Google Mail, Google Maps and Yahoo! Messenger applications in Apple iPhone. In addition, we have improved the "Dictionaries" section, which now supports Android and Blackberry devices, and also added support for a new range of Android-based tablets,” says Nickolay Golubev, Marketing Communications Manager, Oxygen Software. “I'll take the liberty of saying that Oxygen Forensic Suite 2011 today is the most advanced tool for forensic examination of smart phone data in the world.”
