Teledyne TapTone, a leading manufacturer of package inspection systems for the food, beverage, dairy, pharmaceutical, and chemical industries, announced today that it has developed a low cost vision sensor for cap inspection. The sensor, sold under the brand name CapVuTM, is a non-contact inspection sensor designed to detect missing caps, high caps, cocked or tilted caps, and missing tamper rings. The sensor incorporates a high speed digital camera and LED back light housed in a stainless steel enclosure. The sensor mounts on a variable height stand that is cantilevered over the customer’s existing conveyor.

“The sensor offers a few significant advantages for customers over traditional cap inspection sensors and other vision systems. The CapVu sensor is more accurate that traditional bifurcated or thru-beam sensors because it incorporates a high speed digital camera and software that’s capable of analyzing closures at extremely high speeds. It is also a fraction of the cost of full vision systems, making it affordable for many production lines that, until now, have been unable to benefit from vision technology.” says Rick Reardon, Teledyne TapTone’s Product Line Manager.

The CapVu sensor is designed for use with all of the company’s current control platforms, from the TapTone 100 up to the TapTone 4000. Find out more about the CapVu sensor at http://www.taptone.com/vision-sensors.asp
