Extensible Attributes in the PackFlash Constellation Suite really makes our system appealing to developers, allowing them to build practically anything with little to no custom coding.
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) October 10, 2012
PackFlash, premium software developer on the DotNetNuke (DNN) Content Management System, has just released a new version of their Constellation Suite of DNN modules. PackFlash Constellation Version 4.0 introduces the extensible attributes feature for their DotNetNuke modules. The new functionality offered by extensible attributes allows website administrators to build custom fields across the PackFlash content modules for DotNetNuke. The content modules include News, Video, Gallery and Events.
With the PackFlash 4.0 upgrade, administrators can now build custom fields for various content types or for the entire module. For example, customized fields for product listings, news items, events, and image galleries can be created. These custom fields can then be viewed on the items when displayed in a list or on the details page for a specific item. This allows the PackFlash modules to be used to hand virtually any kind of content. Some PackFlash customers have used the News module as a product catalogue. The extensible attributes feature allows web administrators to add specific features, such as product weight and size.
PackFlash’s extensible attribute feature trumps that of similar module providers because the level of granularity offered in this feature. PackFlash allows you to create the attribute for a specific “content type” in a module or across the entire module. Most comparable modules only allow you to create the attribute across the entire module. For example, with other systems if a user adds a custom “weight” field to a product listing, this “weight” field will also show up for blog posts and news articles. With PackFlash, custom fields can be built and managed for specific types of content as the user specifies. Administrators can choose for custom fields to be featured for one specific content type or across all content types.

The Constellation family of DotNetNuke modules from PackFlash consists of eight closely integrated DNN modules. When the whole Constellation Suite is in use, a site’s content administrators have sophisticated publishing and managing capabilities for a wide variety of content. The complete Constellation Suite includes the following DNN modules: Video, Image Gallery, Slideshow, News & Blog, Friendly URLs, Mega Drop-Down Menu, Comment and Events Module for DotNetNuke. Modules can be purchased individually or as part of the Constellation Suite on the DotNetNuke Store.
Version 4.0 also proudly introduces a JSON API, allowing developers to access the code behind PackFlash to build powerful customizations. The PackFlash API is compatible with Knockout.JS, giving developers the opportunity to create higher levels of website interactivity and engagement.
