Adrift Adventures, a wilderness whitewater rafting company in Dinosaur National Monument, has announced a four-day Green River rafting trip and yoga retreat in Gates of Lodore August 2-5, 2013.

Participants will warm their muscles each morning with Paddle Yoga, a unique sequence of postures where the paddle is used as a prop, according yoga retreat organizer, Cariann Brown, certified yoga therapist and Phoenix Rising yoga teacher.

“The river becomes a metaphor for learning how to overcome obstacles and stay focused on your path through the rapids of life,” Brown said. “Participants will enjoy four days of rafting, yoga, hiking, dancing, storytelling, meditation, campfires and lots of laughter.”

Cost for this specialty rafting trip in Dinosaur National Monument is $650 per person, which includes four days of yoga instruction, rafting equipment, guides, meals and transportation, according to Eileen Peterson, general manager, Adrift Adventures.

“This multi-day rafting trip will stop at a remote riverside camp each night,” Peterson explained. “Guides will prepare meals, while you relax with Paddle Yoga sessions and other activities.”

“If you’re nervous about whitewater or new to Yoga, then this retreat was made for you,” Brown said. “Each day has a theme designed to help you overcome your fears and discover your inner strength.”

Four-day Gates of Lodore rafting trips on the Green River cover 44 river miles in the heart of Dinosaur National Monument. Intermediate class III and class IV rapids will be encountered, but no prior rafting experience is necessary.
