Pali Capital, an independent, full-service institutional securities firm and investment bank, today announced the hiring of five sales and trading professionals as well as the opening of a new Chicago office. Josh Altschuler joins Pali's Boston office in research sales. Kevin Scherer joins the International Equities trading team in New York. Steve Kepler and Mark Gabhart join as sales traders in the firm's recently opened San Francisco office; and, Michael Savini joins as Head of Midwest Research Sales, working out of Pali's new Chicago office. The hires are the latest in a string of new additions as Pali continues to broaden and expand.
Commenting on the hires, Chief Executive Officer Joe Schenk, said, "Despite difficult market conditions we continue to see numerous opportunities to attract top-flight talent and to grow and diversify our business."
Mr. Altschuler, who will be based in Boston and focus on research sales, was previously with Wachovia Securities where he was a director in institutional equity sales.
Mr. Garbhart and Mr. Kepler, sales traders, are key additions to the firm's recently opened office in San Francisco. Mr. Gabhart joins from Pequot Capital Management; and before that, he was a senior equities trader at Citadel Investment Group. Mr. Kepler was an equity sales trader at Jefferies & Co. for sixteen years where he helped build the firm's West Coast effort.
Mr. Savini will serve as Head of Midwest Research Sales, which will enhance the firm's presence in the Midwest and Texas Markets. Pali currently has five sales traders in Minneapolis. Prior to joining Pali, Mr. Savini covered the Midwest and South as a research salesman for Susquehanna International Group.
Finally, Mr. Scherer is an international equity trader and will be based in New York. He joins from Smith Barney/Citigroup where he spent more than twelve years working on their international equity trading desk.
