Webinar Will Gather Experts to Discuss Key Strategies to Address Application Risk in Enterprises

Application Risk Webinar

The SANS Institute now ranks patching client-side software as the top IT security priority

The recent shift in endpoint risk from operating systems to third party applications has escalated the risk of cyber attacks and while organizations have improved patch management processes for their operating systems, cybercriminals are continuing to find ways into their systems through un-patched vulnerabilities. With at least 2.7 billion un-patched applications running on machines within the U.S. alone and 98 percent of Windows machines have at least one un-patched application according to the Secunia Half Year Report 2010, these third party applications provides attackers with many options to exploit.

Lumension, the global leader in endpoint management and security, is sponsoring a webinar on November 3 at 12 p.m. EST that will examine the changing endpoint environment and how to mitigate application risk. Hosts John Jainschigg, Executive Director of Internet and Community Laboratory at Ziff Davis Enterprise, Paul Zimski, VP of Solution Strategy at Lumension, and Paul Henry, Security and Forensics Analyst at Lumension, will explore automating policy enforcement to ensure continuous patch management for operating systems and applications – in both physical and virtual environments, as well as promote discussion around layering security approaches with prioritized IT risk mitigation, antivirus, and application whitelisting.

“The SANS Institute now ranks patching client-side software as the top IT security priority,” said Paul Zimski, VP of Solution Strategy, Lumension. “Two thirds of all endpoint vulnerabilities are accounted for by third party applications, which take twice as long as operating systems for most organizations to patch. Educating people on the importance of this is our goal with this webinar, as well as looking at key technologies that should be considered for a strong defense-in-depth approach.”

This eSeminar, entitled “Key Strategies to Address Rising Application Risk in Your Enterprise” will show industry experts having a frank and open discussion about the latest application risks in enterprises and how to resolve issues that arise from such risks.
