Patents issued on June 19 took a significant plunge, but this week the total number is back up by a full 500 patents. However, the bigger news is who is receiving those patents. After months of dominating the assignees top 10 list, this week International Business Machines Corporation slipped to number three. Panasonic Corporation has taken the top spot, but how long they keep it remains to be seen. There were also two corporations that broke into the top 10 list for the first time; Ricoh Company, Ltd. and QUALCOMM Incorporated.
However, Physics - Computing; Calculating; Counting did manage to hold onto the number one spot in the categories list which its held for months. There was an entirely new group on the inventors list, and while the top inventor Shunpei Yamazaki received one less patent than last week’s list topper, overall the number of patents secured by this week’s inventors outpaced last week.
