Activity in the second week of May kept on pace with patents issued on May 1, 2012 with a total of 5,525 new patents. It looks like the Top 10 categories would be a carbon copy of last week until you come to the final entry. Electricity - Basic Electronic Circuitry regained a spot of the list, replacing Performing Operations; Transporting - Vehicles In General which made an unexpected appearance last week.

Unlike the Categories, this week there is a whole new group of inventors to make their way onto the top 10 list. Alan Davis led the pack with an impressive 13 patents, which puts him one ahead last week’s top inventor Kevin Roy Sugden. However, there were no surprises on which corporation would be the top assignee. International Business Machines Corporation continued it’s maintained its first place position, albeit with less patents this week compared to last week’s total. There was a good bit of shake-ups further down the list with 4 companies (Seiko, General Electric, Hewlett-Packard and LG Electronics) reclaiming their spots.
