While you can just read the Bible, you will gain a lot more perspective on God’s Word by combining it with your prayer life in an organized fashion.

In her new book “Awaken Me: A Devotional Prayer Journal” (published by CrossBooks) author Patti Londa Greene offers readers a uniquely written, 365-day devotional journal using gripping phrases from the Old and New Testaments. Designed for all ages, this journal will help readers to understand how both prayer and Bible study foster a stronger relationship with God. Through a formatted plan of suggested readings and prompts, readers will deepen their walk with the Lord.

An excerpt from “Awaken Me,” describing the book’s structure:

Each page includes the following entries:

  •     A dateline
  •     A Biblical word medley from Old and New Testaments
  •     A corresponding Bible verse
  •     A suggested chapter reading from the Bible, including a glimpse into the contents
  •     A reminder to praise, confess and repent, forgive, pray, and thank God daily
  •     Prompts for individual journaling

“Awaken Me” is unique in that it incorporates verses and suggested chapter readings from every book of the Bible starting in Genesis and ending in Revelation. Thus, readers can claim to have read from every book of the Bible upon completion.

“People desire some systematic structure in their devotional life,” Greene says. “While you can just read the Bible, you will gain a lot more perspective on God’s Word by combining it with your prayer life in an organized fashion.”
