London, UK (PRWEB UK) 17 July 2012
In the 18 months that payasUgym has been trading, the growth of the company and customer base has been extensive. Already a finalist in the ‘Smarta100’ start-up awards, payasUgym is being recognised for its success. The Startups Awards measures business achievement across the board, championing innovation, enterprise and the people behind the businesses.
“We are thrilled to be again recognised as an exciting start-up and we look forward to see if we will win the award this year. It’s an honour to be recognised for our quality and breadth of service we provide. We are working very hard to ensure that we continue to grow and we aim to have over a 1,000 gyms this time next year.” quoted Simon Norton the Marketing Director at payasUgym.
With over 350 gyms already in the programme, there’s plenty of scope for growth among the UK’s 6,000-plus gyms. Gym-goers have been attracted by the discounted Passes for local gyms, which literally enables them to 'pay as they gym', and which they can buy via an app on their smartphone or through the website. The founders aim to make payasUgym one of the biggest fitness brands in the country, and are well on their way.
The Startups 100 awards were launched in 2008, and was the first and original round-up of the top 100 start-ups in the UK. Four years on, they are proud to continue to recognise and celebrate new businesses. Previous winners identified by Startups.co.uk have gone on to become some of the UK’s finest entrepreneurial success stories, including Zoopla.co.uk, Naked Wines, Wonga.com, Shortlist Media and Huddle.

Notes to Editors:
The idea for payasUgym.com was created by Jamie Ward and Neil Harmsworth after discussing the difficulties in finding decent gyms in London that you can just go to on a one-off basis.
payasUgym.com was launched in February 2011 and currently offers over 350+ gyms in the UK and is now the world’s largest gym access programme.
