Check City Takes on Man v Food Challenge to Feed the Hungry

With these bins, customers, along with anyone simply wanting to help by donating, can stop by any one of these Check City locations and contribute much needed nonperishable canned or boxed food items. These donated items will then go directly to a local food bank courtesy of Feeding America, the country’s largest hunger-relief organization. In addition to receiving the donated nonperishable goods, Travel Channel will also be donating $1,000 to a food bank within the community.

Most people do not realize the ever-growing reality of hunger spreading throughout America, and the need for more help. Statistics show that currently one in eight Americans struggles with hunger and food insecurity. Feeding America has a network of over 200 food banks serving all 50 states along with the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. Every year, they distribute more than 2.5 billion pounds of food and grocery products which in turn provides food to more than 37 million low-income people in the United States. Feeding America works hand in hand with approximately 63,000 charitable agencies and 70,000 programs that provide food directly to families and individuals facing hunger, including more than 14 million children and 3 million seniors.
