The WEGO Health Activist Best in Show Blog Award is bestowed upon the blogger who best exemplifies the use of a blog to raise awareness and bring people together. This year’s winner is Amy Medling, founder of PCOS Diva.com.
The WEGO Health Activist Awards were created to embody the mission of WEGO Health: to empower Health Activists. WEGO Health connects with so many inspiring Health Activists who raise awareness, share information, support their communities, and much more - often without recognition.
"Because our network is centered around Health Activists, we knew it was up to us to tell these leaders how great they are. We wanted to celebrate those who have made a difference and thus, the Awards were born. We've since found that these Awards are one of the best ways to introduce new Health Activists and have community members say "Thank You" to the leaders they love," says Susan Mees, VP of Community Relations.
Health Activists are leaders who work daily to improve the way people talk and think about health. They are passionate about raising awareness for health causes, dedicated to finding the best information about health conditions, and relentless in their commitment to help others. They are also adept at using every tool possible to reach their communities, especially through social media.
Amy Medling says, "It truly is an honor for PCOS Diva to receive the WEGO Health Best in Show Blog Award. As a Health Activist, Coach and blogger, I work to increase awareness of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. As many as 1 in 10 women have PCOS and 70% don't even know they have it. This is a real problem considering PCOS is connected with Type 2 Diabetes, infertility and heart disease."
PCOS Diva, is an online site that helps women with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) manage their symptoms naturally though diet and lifestyle change. PCOS is the leading cause of infertility in women, and is estimated to affect more than 10% of women worldwide. If left unchecked, it can lead a great risk of chronic illness like diabetes and heart disease. Lifestyle and diet changes are considered first line therapy for PCOS.
Amy describes her mission this way, “I want women to know there is a way to feel better and thrive with PCOS. My goal is to help women with PCOS reclaim their fertility, femininity, health and happiness. PCOS Diva is a positive place for women with PCOS where they no longer have to let PCOS rule or ruin their lives. My blog inspires women to take back control and manage their PCOS naturally.”
