We want to provide a venue and an atmosphere of collaboration where educators, thought leaders and experts can come together and engage in conversation about how they can make the greatest impact on student achievement in their school systems

School Improvement Network (SINET) is excited to announce the first ever School Improvement Innovation Summit to be held July 11-13, 2011 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Summit attendees will learn how to use professional development as a key instrument to improve student, teacher, school, and district performance. They also will have the chance to participate in ongoing dialogues on changes, issues, and solutions, and learn about advanced uses of PD 360 and other partner products.

PD 360 is the leading online, on-demand professional development for teachers and administrators with over 700,000 educators learning, sharing and collaborating best practices. Now, SINET is bringing that same rich content to the School Improvement Innovation Summit. With keynote sessions from Michael Fullan, Curtis Linton, and even a special virtual keynote from Heidi Hayes Jacobs, participants will have the opportunity to collaborate and engage with top experts and thought leaders as they learn how to move their system to the highest levels of achievement.

In addition to the keynote sessions from some of education’s leading experts, Summit participants will also hear from John Covington, Superintendent of Kansas City Schools, and Mary Esselman, Executive Director of Assessment and Professional Development for the Kansas City, Missouri School District, on how to transform an entire district, and Ms. Esselman will also address issues and solutions for teacher evaluation.

“We want to provide a venue and an atmosphere of collaboration where educators, thought leaders and experts can come together and engage in conversation about how they can make the greatest impact on student achievement in their school systems,” said CEO, Chet Linton.

To ensure each participant has a tailored and enriched Summit experience, SINET is offering four concurrent tracks to choose from while attending:

  •     PD and Hot Issues in Education will feature sessions outlining the impact on achievement and on professional development of eight different issues affecting education. Issues such as Equity, the Common Core, Common Assessment, and five others.
  •     PD in Practice will feature districts talking about problems they have faced, and how they implemented solutions using professional development to attack those issues and improve their districts.
  •     Partner Solutions to Intractable Problems will showcase solutions from other companies that fit in nicely with PD 360. You will learn how to save time and effort while improving district performance.
  •     Advanced Hands-on Training will allow you to learn and practice advanced features of PD 360, such as building professional learning communities, creating your own courses, and evaluating teachers.

Calling all Presenters!
The School Improvement Innovation Summit is also seeking presentation submittals from all educators that share best practices using PD 360. Those submittals selected will be offered attendance to the conference at a 50% discount of full cost, as well as a one-year subscription for Observation 360 and a Flip video camera for their school. To be considered, please complete a submission form.

Educators can instantly find the help they need on nearly every topic, including differentiation, assessment, English language learners, leadership, and more. PD 360 can also be used to create a structured learning experience for an individual teacher, a PLC, or even an entire school. PD 360 gives educators access to an online community of teaching professionals that allows interaction and collaboration either within a district or across the United States and the world. Observation 360
PD 360 now features Observation 360, a handheld observation tool designed to allow principals and instructional leaders such as coaches and mentors to perform effective observations and walkthroughs—and more importantly to allow those instructional leaders to be able to easily give effective follow-up to teachers via PD 360’s rich resources. No longer will teachers have to find resources to address issues arising from an observation, PD 360 will automatically recommend appropriate resources based on the results of the observation. Built for the Apple iPad, iPhone, or iTouch, principals and instructional leaders can choose from existing templates to structure the evaluation or create custom-designed templates, each completely integrated with PD 360.
