HELIOS Software introduces its UB+ generation of Unbreakable Server Software at the Graph Expo trade show, September 9-12, in Chicago, IL. HELIOS software runs on all major server platforms, and supports Windows, Mac and Web clients. The UB+ suite introduces advanced transparency support including PDF flattening, to allow creative freedom, while ensuring reliable proofing and print production.

HELIOS Software GmbH, a leading developer of cross-platform networking, PDF, and image server solutions for Mac, Windows, UNIX, and web clients, will introduce at Graph Expo (Booth #5432) the next generation of its Unbreakable Server Solutions, named HELIOS UB+. Advanced transparency support, incorporated into ImageServer UB+, PDF HandShake UB+, and PrintPreview UB+ is one of the highlights of the UB+ suite. In combination with the integrated PDF flattening it allows for flexible creative work and multi-purpose document usage.

The use of transparencies has become a critical feature in modern prepress work, yet most RIPs lack support for PDFs containing transparencies. With overall transparency support and PDF flattening HELIOS UB+ ensures accurate and reliable proofing and print production.
Benefits to users include:

  • Image transparencies are preserved during image conversion by HELIOS ImageServer UB+, supporting a broader range of image repurposing, and greater flexibility in prepress work.
  • Reliable proofing of PDFs containing transparencies with HELIOS PrintPreview UB+ saves time and reduces costly errors in print production. Proofing quality is further increased by support for ICC color matching of spot colors, overprints, and in-RIP separations.
  • PDF flattening by HELIOS PDF HandShake UB+ automates time consuming PDF flattening, to support the PDF/X standard and compatibility with all RIPs.
  • HELIOS WebShare UB+ adds remote access and support for previewing of images and PDFs containing transparencies to enable remote approval and easy collaboration of agency, customer and print shop.

Altogether, these features allow the use of the latest design techniques, including transparencies, while ensuring that the output is optimized for each different medium.
