Connecticut Women’s Business Enterprise and Rubber Manufacturer Join Forces to Provide Supplier Diversity and Create Local Jobs
WBENC Conference, Washington, DC (PRWEB) March 26, 2010
Plastic Diversity Solutions (PDS), a women-owned thermoplastic, elastomer and rubber custom compounder located in neighboring Dayville, CT, and Delta Rubber, a custom rubber molder located in Danielson, CT, today announced a strategic alliance to provide supplier diversity in the supply of rubber products. The announcement was made at the 2010 Summit and Salute to Women’s Business Enterprises (WBE), a Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) signature event that provides the annual forum to further its efforts in connecting WBEs and Corporate Members to do business with each other.
Under the strategic alliance, Plastic Diversity Solutions and Delta Rubber will jointly market custom rubber components made with custom compounds sourced from Plastic Diversity Solutions to provide diversity content to WBENC Corporate Members and members of their supply chain domestic and overseas operations. The partnership combines the custom molding and custom compounding capabilities of the two companies leveraging their geographic proximity to rapidly develop custom solutions and contain costs.
“The cornerstone of this strategic alliance is the fact that WBENC Corporate Members have made the commitment and have the choice and opportunity to leverage their supply chain purchases, both here and abroad, to provide diversity content when quality products and services are provided at a competitive cost,” said Donna Scholz, Plastic Diversity Solutions Chairman and CEO. “For U.S. Corporations operating in emerging markets like India and China, where demand is greater than supply resulting in a scarcity of high performance raw materials, compounds and components, there is a real and present export opportunity to provide global diversity content intrinsic to the supply chain without adding cost. At the same time, this approach can create and save much needed domestic jobs,” Scholz said.
“The alliance leverages the strengths of both companies and shares the common goal of creating and keeping jobs in our local community,” said Kevin Violette, Delta Rubber Sales and Marketing Manager. “Each $1M of revenue could create seven jobs. From this perspective, $25M of potential incremental revenue could create 175 new jobs in the Danielson community, and would translate into eight truckloads of rubber compound per month for PDS providing significant job creation opportunity for two local small businesses coming together to serve large enterprises and government agencies. We will be targeting the automotive, industrial, energy, telecommunications and defense markets to achieve this goal and beyond,” Violette said.
“There is a need for major corporate and government entities to look beyond value added resellers and large construction projects and subcontractors for supplier diversity content compliance,” said Joseph Lucatorto, Chief Marketing Officer, Plastic Diversity Solutions. “By establishing partnerships with manufacturers like Delta Rubber, WBE raw material processors such as PDS can offer yet more choices to sourcing organizations in their efforts to achieve diversity content compliance and will continue to be the thrust of PDS’ supplier diversity strategic marketing program,” Lucatorto added.
