The increase in rentals means that people are more interested in RVs this year than last year and they're just holding off until credit is more available. We see the survey statistics as a great indicator for the industry.
Phoenix, AZ (Vocus) July 24, 2009
Numbers released from a recent RVIA survey of dealers leaves Pedata and other large motorhome dealers positive that the consumer interest has increased since last year. The survey concluded that the 2009 rental rates will exceed those of 2008. Pedata sees the rental rates as an indication of consumer interest that is being held back from purchasing by the inhibiting credit crunch.
Clint Ethington of Pedata RV Center said, "The increase in rentals means that people are more interested in RVs this year than last year and they're just holding off until credit is more available. We see the survey statistics as a great indicator for the industry."
Regardless of the tough economy, people are still vacationing and RV travel is still one of the most economical options available. Jim B., RVer, commented, "It's the best option for vacationing on a tight budget, that's for sure…especially since the gas prices are so much better than they were last year. We're definitely going to get a lot farther on the same amount of gas in comparison to the same time of year in '08!"
RVRA (RV Rental Association) annual survey report indicated:
- rental activity will be up an average of 12%.
- approximately 10% of RV vacationers are booking shorter trips than last year
- approximately 71% of RV vacationers are booking trips of equal length in comparison to last year
