The AAJ plays a significant role in promoting justice and fairness for injured persons and in strengthening our country’s civil justice system. I am excited about the opportunity to help our organization continue this important work.

Pennsylvania personal injury and business dispute lawyer Matthew A. Cartwright has been unanimously re-elected by the Section Leadership Council to serve a second two-year term representing the Council on the American Association For Justice’s Board of Governors.

Cartwright, a partner of the Pennsylvania personal injury law firm of Munley, Munley & Cartwright, P.C., was re-elected July 12 during the AAJ’s annual national convention in New York City.

He said he is looking forward to continuing his service on the Board of Governors and advancing the AAJ’s mission of protecting the legal rights of Americans who have been injured by negligence or misconduct, even when it means taking on the most powerful corporations and interests.

“It is an honor to be chosen by the Section Leadership Council to serve in this leadership role, and I look forward to working with lawyers from around the country on the AAJ’s Board of Governors,” said Cartwright, a former chair of the AAJ’s Section Leadership Council and Business Torts Section.

Cartwright represents individuals and their families in complex personal injury litigation, including interstate truck accidents and medical malpractice. He also represents clients in business disputes that involve breach of contract, misrepresentation, fraud, securities violations and unfair business practices.

Cartwright is a Board-certified civil litigator by the National Board of Trial Advocacy, a Fellow and Diplomate of the National College of Advocacy, a Fellow of the International Society of Barristers and the holder of an “AV” Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review rating.

A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Law School, and a magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Hamilton College, Cartwright holds admissions to the state courts of Pennsylvania and New York as well as the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.

The Pennsylvania attorney has been a member of the AAJ (formerly known as the Association of Trial Lawyers of America) since 1988. He has lectured extensively for AAJ members on jury trial practice, and he has published multiple scholarly articles in AAJ publications, including the AAJ’s journal, TRIAL.

“The AAJ plays a significant role in promoting justice and fairness for injured persons and in strengthening our country’s civil justice system,” Cartwright said. “I am excited about the opportunity to help our organization continue this important work.”
