I believe strongly in the Interstate Litigation Trucking Group’s mission of working to make unsafe trucking companies follow the law and training lawyers who handle serious truck accident cases.

Pennsylvania personal injury lawyer Marion Munley has been invited by the American Association for Justice (AAJ) Interstate Litigation Trucking Group to present a paper at the organization’s annual convention in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Drawing on her experience in representing those injured in large truck collisions, Munley will present the paper, “The Butcher, The Baker, The Candlestick Maker: Persuading the Jury in Tractor Trailer Cases,” on Saturday, July 10, at the Vancouver Convention & Exhibition Centre.

Munley will also moderate an advocacy track on damages at a July 14 seminar.

“I’ve always been a big believer in giving back to the legal community and sharing what I have learned through my practice,” says Munley, an attorney in the Scranton-based firm of Munley, Munley & Cartwright, P.C. “I also believe strongly in the Interstate Litigation Trucking Group’s mission of working to make unsafe trucking companies follow the law and training lawyers who handle serious truck accident cases.”

Each year, truck collisions account for more than 25,000 reported injuries requiring medical treatment away from the scene. Accidents involving large trucks are responsible for more than 4,000 U.S. deaths annually, according to the NHTSA’s Fatality Analysis Reporting System. More than 3,000 of those victims are occupants of a vehicle other than the truck, according to the FARs report.

Formed in 1990, the Interstate Litigation Trucking Group is comprised of AAJ members who seek to hold motor carriers and owner-operators liable for the harm they cause to other motorists.

A graduate of the Temple University School of Law, Munley has been a trial lawyer throughout her 24-year legal career. She is only the second woman in Pennsylvania history to be named a board-certified civil trial advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocates, earning that distinction in 1996.

She has been annually selected as a Super Lawyer by Philadelphia Magazine since 2004, and she has appeared on the American Trial Lawyers Association’s list of the Top 100 Trial Lawyers in Pennsylvania since 2007. She is a fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America.

In addition to serving as an invited lecturer for the AAJ, Munley has been on the staff of the Gerry Spence Trial Lawyers College and lectured for the Pennsylvania Association for Justice, Pennsylvania Bar Institute and Lackawanna County Bar Association.
