Kids Play Piano for Hurricane Relief, Sell DVDs of Performance to Raise Money for Victims

When students of Zinn Piano Academy Lab School in the San Francisco Bay Area and suburban Chicago learned of the devastation wreaked by last year's hurricanes in the Gulf Coast, they created a DVD of their best performance pieces to be offered for sale to friends and family and through online marketplace venues. The young musicians, who range in age from 3-year-old preschoolers to 15-year-old high school students, study piano in Zinn Piano Academy studios in Dublin, California, and Batavia, Illinois. They contributed performances of classical, jazz and Halloween-themed pieces to benefit those who continue to be affected by last year's Gulf Coast region hurricanes.

Batavia, IL (PRWEB) September 12, 2006 -- When students of Zinn Piano Academy Lab School in the San Francisco Bay Area and suburban Chicago learned of the devastation wreaked by last year's hurricanes in the Gulf Coast, they asked what they could do to join in the relief efforts.

The answer they discovered, with the help of piano teachers Mark and Marcie Zinn, was to create a DVD of their best performance pieces to be offered for sale to friends and family and through online marketplace venues.

Entitled "Piano Playing for Hurricane Relief," the DVD has raised approximately $350 since its release in early 2006. Proceeds from the sale go to Operation USA, a non-profit Los Angeles-based disaster relief agency in operation for over 27 years.

Video production was sponsored by the Society for Applied Psychological Research in the Performing Arts (SAPRPA). The DVD's running time is approximately 48 minutes.

Priced at $15.00, the DVD is available online through the SAPRPA website, http://www.artspsych.org. Operation USA receives $12.65 (84 percent) for each DVD sold.
