125th anniversary gala will be at the Hilton Garden Inn, Saturday, April 21st with Steve Caporizzo as emcee and Paul Harding as chair. The 2012 humane heroes awards will be presented.

The 125th anniversary Around the World for 80 Strays gala to benefit the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn on Hoosick Street in Troy on Saturday, April 21, 2012. Paul Harding of personal injury law firm, Martin Harding & Mazzotti, is the event chair. The event will feature live and silent auctions with Steve Caporizzo from WTEN serving as the emcee and celebrity auctioneer. Music will be provided by Grant Central Station.

The Society will present the 2012 Humane Heroes Awards. Goldstein Auto Group will receive the Humane Business Award, while the Humane Non-Profit Award will be presented to Community Resource Federal Credit Union. Cohoes Harmony Hill School third grade students & teachers will receive the 2012 Humane Education Award and John Norton will be given the Humane Advocate Award for his photographs of homeless animals. The Society will also present its highest award given in honor of Dr. William O. Stillman, who founded the organization in 1887.

The live auction will feature:
Immortal Circus Package: Two suite tickets to Cirque de Soleil’s Michael Jackson Immortal Tour at the TU Center and a one-night stay in the Presidential Suite at the Hilton Garden Inn, Albany Medical Center.

St. Petersburg Vacation: Two round-trip tickets on Southwest Airlines, plus use of a two-bedroom condominium on the southern tip of St. Petersburg, Florida for up to two consecutive weeks.

High Adventure Skiing: Two sets of adult skis, poles, boots and bindings and a $500 gift certificate for lodging, dinner and breakfast at the Mirror Lake Inn in Lake Placid.

Celebrating its 125th anniversary, the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, founded in 1887, is the largest animal protection agency in New York’s Capital Region and serves as the SPCA for Albany and Rensselaer Counties, investigating and prosecuting cases of animal cruelty. The Society receives no local, state or federal government funding, nor does it receive funding from any national groups such as ASPCA or Humane Society of the United States.
