Parents Launch New Parenting Web Site

New parent, Julie, made a decision to stay home with her kids and launch her new parenting Web site, More4kids.info .

Chattanooga, TN (PRWEB) August 22, 2006 -- A tough decision by many new parents is whether one should stay at home when their child is born. Many companies have made great strides in catering towards new moms by offering daycares at work and flexible hours. Maternity leave today is more the norm. However, not all companies are so progressive. Finding good daycares and balancing work life with a child can be difficult.

For Julie and Kevin Heath it was a difficult decision. Financially strapped they tried to figure out a way to make it work. Taking a risk, Julie decided to stay at home while her husband continued to work for the health benefits. Knowing they needed to make ends meet, they started More4kids.com in 2004. With their birth of their second child, Tristan, just launched More4kids.info, a parenting Web site dedicated to parents and children’s education.

History: Julie and Kevin Heath founded More4kids Inc. in 2004. As an Internet company, More4kids allows Julie to be a work at home mom. Julie is the backbone of the organization and handles all the day-to-day operation. Her husband Kevin helps support the parenting and personalized gifts Web sites and the technical aspects of the business.

“Working from home is not as easy as most people would think. I often work more hours than I did with corporate America,” said Julie. ”It is very difficult and challenging, but the rewards are being close to my children and knowing that More4kids brings happiness to other peoples kids.

Julie and Kevin wanted to sell products that would educate and help stimulate children’s intellectual and emotional growth. They wanted something a little different, something that had a more human and personal touch to it. That is why they decided that More4kids was to specialize in children’s personalized gifts. Personalized books, and personalized music, are their most popular items.

Dr. Brenda Rollins, a retired educator, can be quoted from her article The Best Gift of All: “Personalized books such as the ones found on More4Kids contribute generously to a child’s intellectual, emotional, and spiritual development.”

Fast-forward to 2006: When asked she created More4kids.info, Julie simply said, “Because kids don’t come with instructions!” She went on to say that having kids is tough for a new parent. You are bombarded with information and do not always know where to turn. To add to the challenge, your child is growing at a very fast pace and it is a struggle to keep up. Julie and Kevin wanted to create a place where parents and caregivers can not only come and get information, but also share their thoughts and ideas.

Mr. Heath describes their new site “More4kids.info, as a family oriented site, dedicated to parenting, education and home schooling, children’s disabilities and pregnancy.”

Their new site, More4kids.info uses the latest technologies. It was important to Julie and Kevin to create a dynamic site where parents can easily access information. Parents can search the site by keywords and allows people to subscribe with RSS, using their favorite RSS reader.

Both Julie and Kevin both said building another parenting site was partly for selfish reasons. “As new parents we can learn from the articles being written, apply the techniques and share that information with other parents.” When asked what made their site different from other parenting sites, Kevin said, “It is important for us to build a community of parents. Our site allows parents to fully interact with the site and fellow parents or caregivers. We took the concept of blogging to the next level to benefit our visitors. Anyone may respond with to the articles posted, or even to others comments. Because kids don’t come with instructions and no one has all the answers, our new site allows people to get different ideas, learn from each other, and build a better and stronger family.”

The decision to stay at home when a new child is born is not an easy decision to make. However, with a little creativity, parents like Kevin and Julie Heath are finding a way to make it happen and benefit not only themselves, but through these parenting Web sites others as well.
