The numbers support the need for condominiums, apartments and hotels to further accommodate pet parents’ busy and dynamic lifestyles.
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (PRWEB) May 08, 2013
Along with the increase in pet ownership, there has been a sudden increase of pet-friendly establishments including luxury high-rise condominiums, corporate workspaces and even outdoors eating establishments. Taria Avery, President and CEO of Avery’s Pet Styling Salon and Boutique, a mobile pet-grooming salon that services the city of Philadelphia and surrounding suburbs, has felt the spike. Her mobile pet spa’s services were recently added to another luxury high-rise condominium building in Center City Philadelphia bringing her services to 20+ of the top 40 4-star high rises.
Avery, a Certified Pet Groomer and loving pet-parent herself, attributes the growing trend to pet owners viewing their pets as family members, and as a result of companies and establishments looking to add value to loyal customers during an unstable economic climate. Avery notes, “the numbers support the need for condominiums, apartments and hotels to further accommodate pet parents’ busy and dynamic lifestyles.”
In 2012, American households spent over $52 billion dollars on pet care and according to the American Pet Products Association’s (APPA) 2013-2014 National Pet Owners Survey pet ownership is at an all time high. The survey states pet ownership among all U.S. households is 68 percent, or an increase to 82.5 million pet owning households this past year.
With pet parents sparing no expense to tend to their special fur-kids, this trend of pet-friendly establishments will continue to increase concurrently. Avery concludes stating, “In addition to the expansion, our certified pet groomers are in two of the three luxury high-rise condo buildings each week. In fact, we are actively hiring entry level groomers now to keep up with the new business.”
Avery's team of Professional Certified Groomers have brought their unique skill set of certified credentials, extensive experience, compassion and high integrity to hundreds of clients to date. The mobile pet spa operates in eight counties between Pennsylvania and New Jersey and has traveled over 65,000 miles in 5 years, grooming a few thousand fur-kids each year.
