Anyone can complete a marathon
Running USA estimates more than 410,000 people completed a marathon in the U.S. in 2006. To help with training, runners and walkers may choose from a variety unique training programs available through the P.F. Chang's Rock 'n' Roll Arizona Marathon & ½ Marathon.
New for this year, all registered participants of P.F. Chang's Rock 'n' Roll Arizona Marathon & ½ Marathon receive access to a complimentary online training program offered by New Balance and Active Trainer. From the first timer to the seasoned veteran, this program offers a mix of aerobic, anaerobic and cross-training workouts. The online program consists of weekly running tips, message boards, a training log and analysis, daily training emails and inspirational tips.
Those in need of additional inspiration to start training may find it through one of 20 official national and regional charity training programs, which provide professional training and support to runners and walkers while benefiting a variety of non-profit organizations. Over the past four years, Team In Training has led the national fundraising charge, bringing thousands of runners and walkers from around the U.S. who have raised more than $15 million (net) for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Phoenix Children's Hospital Kids Rock
A race for all ages
Race weekend has turned into a family event with over 3,000 kids running in the Phoenix Children's Hospital Kids' Rock race. Due to the race's growing popularity, it has moved to Saturday, January 12 to give entire families a chance to get involved in the rock 'n' roll atmosphere and run through the official marathon finish line.
The one-mile run for children grades K thru 6 is a non-competitive, non-timed event that is all about having fun and making it to the finish line. Kids can choose to become full marathon finishers by completing a 26.2-mile training program prior to race day. A training program and progress chart is available online at http://www.kidsrockaz.com. Every child is a winner and will be rewarded with an official race number, T-shirt, goodie bag, free headliner concert ticket and medal for finishing. This race does sell out. Individual and group registration is currently available.
