An EMR can greatly simplify many of the processes that occur on a daily basis at physical therapy clinics and other professional healthcare organizations.

An EMR (electronic medical record) system is mainly used ‘in-house’ by health clinics, hospitals and doctor’s offices and provides a means to store and retrieve patient records.
Chhoda said, “An EMR can greatly simplify many of the processes that occur on a daily basis at physical therapy clinics and other professional healthcare organizations.”
There are many benefits to a well deployed EMR for physical therapy services some of which extend to EHR records. An electronic health record (EHR) is a record which can be shared across numerous health care organizations and may include a patient’s entire medical history.
In the video Nitin Chhoda explains how an EHR is an aggregate of a patient’s medical record that’s shared across multiple entities.
“I’ve been a physical therapist for ten years and I recently went out on my own. I just want to say thanks for all the helpful information you have on this website. This is the first place I come to when I’m doing research or if I hear of something new that affects physical therapy management.” – Sandy Brown
A patient’s EHR may be shared via the Internet which is one of the major advantages of creating and maintaining patient records electronically. Former president George W. Bush pushed for legislation that would standardize electronic medical records and in 2009 president Obama sited implementing EMRs across the board by 2014 as an element of his total economic plan.
President Obama said the primary benefit of electronic medical records would be the reduction of preventable medical errors some of which are often fatal. Other benefits include a reduction in man-hours for record processing, streamlined procedures and the elimination of duplicate tests across medical offices.
