Physicians EHR today announced that it is one of five organizations selected to participate in the American College of Cardiology’s (ACC) EHR Selection Consultant Initiative. Given the many benefits of health IT, the ACC highly encourages its members to consider adopting an electronic health record (EHR) in their practice. To make the transition as smooth as possible, the ACC has assembled an EHR Toolkit, which includes the EHR Selection Consultant Initiative, to assist its members in beginning the process of choosing and implementing an EHR.

With HIE experiences in hindsight, PEHR was pleased to have exceeded ACC’s initial criteria, and offers high praise to the medical organization for their foresight and member support.

Carolyn Hartley, President and CEO, Physicians EHR, explains, “When selecting an EHR, cardiologists, as with most physicians, are making a significant business decision and then have to figure out what they’ve purchased. ACC is offering a terrific service to its members by bringing on board seasoned decision-makers who can help manage the risks and benefits of an EHR.”

The ACC is working with Physicians EHR, along with additional EHR Consultants, to offer ACC member discounts and assist with the EHR selection process. In order to join the ACC EHR Selection Consultant group, consultants were required to meet technical criteria recommended by ACC for its members wishing to work with EHR selection consultants. "In our experience, cardiologists have been significant influencers as they leverage EHR lessons learned and help shape local and regional health information exchanges. With HIE experiences in hindsight, PEHR was pleased to have exceeded ACC’s initial criteria, and offers high praise to the medical organization for their foresight and member support,” Hartley added.

Headquartered in Raleigh, North Carolina, Physicians EHR consultants serve as provider/clinic advocates, managing the EHR selection and implementation process. The Physicians EHR project management team oversees the complex paper to paperless migration for clinics in 17 states, and also serve as EHR technical advisors to national and state medical societies and quality improvement organizations. The company advises physicians nationwide on planning for consumer driven health care, patient communication strategies, electronic medical records, electronic health records and personal health records, along with Privacy and Security implementation strategies.
