The Pilgrim tables bring together the best of the Shaker and Mission styles.

Drawing on a decades-long tradition of Amish furniture style woodworking, Brandenberry Amish Furniture debuts the Pilgrim Occasional Table Collection. Blending Shaker and Mission style furniture designs, the Pilgrim design will accent any style of home décor and remain a timeless Amish living room furniture style for generations to come. Those familiar with Amish furniture will appreciate the expert construction using local hardwoods, but even those unfamiliar with Amish construction will notice the sturdy craftsmanship and rich wood finish.

The Pilgrim is rooted in two traditional designs: the Shaker and Mission. The Shaker design originated from the early-American Shakers (a now defunct sect of the Anabaptist Christian movement) who crafted simple, sturdy chairs for their large religious gatherings. The Shaker-style chairs soon became popular pieces in the local community and spread throughout the United States. The Shaker influence is evident in the Pilgrim tables’ slightly tapered feet, solid knob hardware and arched apron.

The Mission design was created in the early 20th century under the influence of the Spanish missions of the American Southwest. Along with the Shaker, the Mission design is hugely popular in the world of solid wood furniture. The Pilgrim tables boast Mission accents such as wood slats and straight legs. Brandenberry sales representative Floyd notes, "The Pilgrim tables bring together the best of the Shaker and Mission styles."
