Christians such as C.S. Lewis have been moved by this work, even though it is a piece of allegory that is hundreds of years old. It is evidence of the power of Story to do what an argument cannot do alone.

Athanatos Christian Ministries is an apologetics ministry with an emphasis on defending the faith through the arts and literature. One of the earliest examples is "The Pilgrim's Progress" by John Bunyan. It is still read today and many Christians consider it formative.
According to ACM's book description:
"John Bunyan stuns each new generation of Christians with his insight into the spiritual journey in the faith we all must walk. Bunyan began writing this work while imprisoned for not conforming to the requirements of the state church in England. In the face of these difficulties, Bunyan still considered the trials and temptations that separate us from God and eternal life with Him to be far more important than his own 'light and momentary sufferings.' Bunyan's message reminds us that we are only pilgrims on our way to the heavenly lands: and to mind our step. This illustrated edition contains the numerous drawings and engravings that have helped give Bunyan's book its lasting power, in particular by Frederick Barnard, which were engraved by the Dalziel brothers. This edition also includes an index of Bible passages that Bunyan cited."
ACM has made the book available in both hard and soft cover editions as well as an ebook version. All three editions contain classic illustrations and an index of Bible references used by Bunyan that ACM carefully generated.
ACM's Executive Director, Anthony Horvath says, "We are very pleased to release an updated version with an attractive cover that uses new printing technology to ensure the book will last for a long time. Moreover, we took special care to catalog the Bible references that Bunyan alluded to. I know we didn't get them all simply due to the fact that Bunyan's book is chock full of them, but there are certainly enough to pull out some good devotional material."
Besides its spiritual value, Horvath points out that it is a good example of 'literary apologetics.' "Christians such as C.S. Lewis have been moved by this work, even though it is a piece of allegory that is hundreds of years old. It is evidence of the power of Story to do what an argument cannot do alone."
The book is available on Amazon, Kindle, and other online outlets, as well as directly from the publisher. ACM's full catalog of classic reprints and contemporary releases is available on their website at athanatosministries.org.
