Telvent GIT, S.A., a leading real-time IT solutions and information provider for a sustainable world, announced today that China’s largest oil and gas producer, PetroChina Company Limited (PetroChina), has selected Telvent to serve as main contractor for the automated engineering involved in the reconstruction and expansion of one of its crude oil pipelines. The project contract is valued at nearly $4 million.
Telvent will provide a turnkey, automated control solution for expansion of the existing Qing-tie crude oil pipeline located in the northeastern region of China, where the geography presents a difficult construction environment. Further, the reconstruction required of some parts of the existing pipeline poses throughput and timeline challenges. Telvent will be responsible for installation of station-level and centralized control technology designed to optimize safe and secure Qing-tie network operation. As part of this full-scope automation project Telvent will also install the associated telecommunications network and manage site commissioning work. The expansion is expected to be completed by the end of 2012.
This project continues a long-standing relationship in which PetroChina has relied on pipeline monitoring and control solutions based on Telvent’s advanced-technology information management systems. These solutions have enabled efficient and secure operation of PetroChina’s comprehensive crude oil, refined oil and natural gas transport system and support the reliable availability of energy resources for the country of China.
According to Telvent's Chairman and CEO, Ignacio Gonzalez, “PetroChina continues to communicate its confidence in Telvent’s information management experience and project expertise. This project fortifies Telvent’s role as a leader in the automation and modernization of the Chinese energy sector.”
