Piper Shores, Maine’s first and only nonprofit lifecare retirement community, today announced that Peggy Pineo has been hired as the Administrator of Piper Shores. Pineo works with the Executive Director, Michael Bierley, in managing the day-to-day operations of Piper Shores, which includes over 190 employees in 9 different departments. Pineo is primarily responsible for overseeing the Holbrook Health Center, the assisted living and skilled nursing care component of Piper Shores. Holbrook provides long-term care, short-term rehabilitation and respite care services to both lifecare residents at Piper Shores as well as to those from outside Piper Shores.
Prior to joining Piper Shores, Pineo was the administrator of a 96-bed multilevel skilled nursing and assisted living facility where she managed over one hundred (100) employees and was successful in increasing referrals and census building. She also has been an instructor with Cross Country Education and presents and teaches health care regulation programs at various locations throughout the United States. Pineo has more than 15 years of experience in the healthcare industry and holds Masters Degrees in both Public Health and Health Administration.

Peggy will be starting the new year by overseeing the transition to Electronic Medical Records and a facelift to Holbrook, including private showers. Holbrook Health Center was the first nursing home in Maine to be recognized by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) and the Continuing Care Accreditation Commission (CCAC). Holbrook was awarded Exemplary status for its innovative Life Stories, Tree of Life and Intergenerational programs. Additionally, the Holbrook Health Center earned a 5-Star quality rating (the highest possible) from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), which recently ranked more than 15,800 nursing homes throughout the United States.
