ESPN has licensed "Road Trip" from Planetary Nights' debut album Elliptical Motion as the theme song for the 20-segment series "Mort Goes To Camp" in which veteran football analyst Chris Mortensen is traveling by tour bus to 20 NFL training camps to interview coaches and players about the upcoming football season. The series is running multiple times daily from August 1st through August 23rd on ESPN's Sports Center show (9AM, 12, 6 and 11PM), usually during the second half of the show's hour broadcast. Today ESPN extended that license for the performance of "Road Trip" on SEC as well as Big East Network broadcasts of about 25 football games throughout the 2009 season.
Elliptical Motion is packed with 15 original Americana rock 'n' roll songs ranging from blistering rock anthems to bluesy ballads and available now on iTunes, Amazon and CD Baby. Planetary Nights is a New York City-based indie band and has been performing at various venues across the city, such as Kenny's Castaways, The National Underground, Lakeside Lounge and Shrine to promote the new album.
"Road Trip" is the lead-off song on Elliptical Motion and captures the roll-down-the-windows and crank-up-the-music spirit of adventure and freedom. More information about Planetary Nights can be found at http://www.planetarynights.com.
