We looked at many options that either did not meet our needs or were too pricey, with implementation schedules that were too lengthy. ActiveReview, with integration with TRAKiT, came along at the right time with the right tools to begin a fast-track implementation of automating our Planning review process.

SIRE Technologies, a leading provider of document management and agenda automation software for state and local governments, has been chosen by Mesa County, CO to implement its latest technology, SIRE ActiveReview at the municipality.

ActiveReview is an automated, web-based plan submittal, review, tracking, and storage module, built upon SIRE’s established technology. It offers several collaboration and review tools, email notifications, tracking abilities, and deadlines in order to improve government efficiency and effectiveness in the permitting and plan check process.

Having recently implemented CRW’s TRAKiT application in its Planning and Building departments, Mesa County wanted to attain a seamless connection between TRAKiT and the automation of the application review process. TRAKiT is a municipal software used for permitting, managing building codes, land and project management, business licensing, and citizen response.

Rick Corsi, IT Manager at Mesa County, said, “We looked at many options that either did not meet our needs or were too pricey, with implementation schedules that were too lengthy. ActiveReview, with integration with TRAKiT, came along at the right time with the right tools to begin a fast-track implementation of automating our Planning review process.”

According to Corsi, SIRE ActiveReview was chosen by Mesa County to assist in meeting the Planning and Economic Development departments’ goal to “provide increased efficiency and transparency for the applicants, the public, and review agencies.” In addition, the integration will:

  • Eliminate the need for multiple software applications
  • Electronically automate an otherwise manual and paper-heavy process
  • Provide the ability to research and check document status via the web 24/7
  • Reduce time and costs involved in preparing, processing, obtaining proper approvals, and preserving official county records, researching and retrieving plan and check information, and reduce personnel costs due to elimination of redundant processing requirements

ActiveReview is an open architecture solution, allowing Mesa County to use their own reporting tools to create custom reports. Additionally, SIRE will provide customized web portal forms and workflow components for the ActiveReview process.

“Our County Commissioners have directed all County staff to push forward in providing services for customers online rather than in line. This implementation is one step forward in meeting our goals," Corsi added.
