Jeffrey M. Kenkel, a Dallas plastic surgeon and vice-chairman of the Department of Plastic Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center has once again been included in D Magazine’s annual listing of the top physicians in Dallas. This is Dr. Kenkel’s fifth year to be recognized as one of the best plastic surgeons in the metro area.
The prestigious ‘best of the best’ list appeared in D Magazine’s October issue. This recognition has special significance as the outstanding physicians listed in the annual issue are nominated by their peers. The nomination form asks physicians to cast their votes keeping the following question in mind: “Which Dallas doctor would you trust with the care of a loved one”. Over 2,000 physicians responded with their votes.
“I feel very blessed to be able to care for my patients. It is truly an honor to be recognized for work that I simply love to do," explains Dr. Kenkel. "It is exciting to be involved in cutting edge plastic surgery, on a daily basis, offering our patients the best possible choices we have available today.”
Dr. Kenkel, who is the immediate past president of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, believes that patients need tangible information to help them make informed choices about their doctors. Recognition by your peers and patients are accolades that all physicians appreciate.
Dr. Kenkel urges patients seeking information about cosmetic surgery of the face, breast, and body to select a surgeon who is board-certified in plastic surgery and properly trained in the procedure they want. “Check to see that the facility they operate in is accredited. Kenkel says, “Patients who do their homework and come prepared with a list of questions always seem to have a better understanding about what a particular procedure can and cannot do. A list of questions is a great starting point for our discussion.”
Dr. Jeffrey Kenkel firmly believes that the more patients understand about a medical procedure, whether it’s a facelift or laser resurfacing, the more likely they will have appropriate expectations and ultimately will be satisfied with the outcome.
“We never want to talk patients into a procedure. We provide them with as much information as we can so an informed decision can be made. We encourage a second or even a third visit if questions remain," says Dr. Kenkel.
