We're excited about this new technology because it allows our customers to have total protection, regardless of whether or not they have a home phone line

Platinum Protection, a Utah-based home security company, is now offering home security systems that utilize two-way voice over cellular technology. Using advanced cellular technology, the new offering from Platinum will enable homeowners who do not have a land-based home phone line to verbally communicate through the alarm system with monitoring personnel in event of an alarm. Platinum Protection is one of the first home security companies to offer homeowners the advanced technology.
"We're excited about this new technology because it allows our customers to have total protection, regardless of whether or not they have a home phone line," said Chance Allred, an executive with Platinum, "We are doing everything we can to make this advanced technology available to everyone."
Two-way voice works by allowing monitoring station personnel the ability to listen in on a home after an alarm goes off. For example, if a thief breaks into a home that has been equipped with this type of alarm system, the monitoring agent who receives the alarm signal can listen to the audio in the home and verify the threat or determine if it is a false alarm. In recent years, two-way voice verification has become an essential part of any home alarm system because an increasing number of police departments will not respond to unverified home alarm signals. And until recently, this technology was only available to homeowners with a home phone line.
"When Platinum began, we set out to be the leader in advanced security system technology," said Allred. "This two-way over cellular capability is just another part of realizing that vision."
Platinum has continually promoted advanced security technology. Last year, the company began offering Platinum Interactive - an online service that enables homeowners to access and control their security system from any computer or PDA. Using Platinum Interactive, customers are able to remotely arm and disarm their system and set up system status alerts that can be sent via email or text message. Now with two-way voice over cellular, Platinum seeks to solidify its leadership in advanced security system technology.
